The sport of football is a great opportunity to reach people in underserved areas, the UK’s chief scientist says.
The Football Association (FA) is working on ways to encourage people to play sports in the UK, in the face of rising costs, a spokeswoman said.
However, in some cases the costs can be prohibitive, she said.
It’s about having the right people playing sports, which are a lot of fun.
The game can be fun for many people, she added.
“The FA is working to improve opportunities for more people to take up the sport,” she said in a statement.
For example, the FA has increased its youth team to 12 players and its adult team to 25 players from 2016.
